Shabat Shalom!

Top! Middle! Bottom! Our class sat down with a flashlight and tried to figure out all the different parts. We discovered that the top of our body is our head, the middle is our tummy, and the bottom is our toes. We learned that Noah put him family on the top of the tayvah, the animals in the middle, and the garbage on the bottom.
We continued to explore our farm theme. Morah put some farm animals in the water table and watched as the friends went to the bucket to get some more animals. The friends were making the correct sound of the animals and playing together. One of our centers this week was name recognition. Our names were written on ducks to connect with our theme. We placed the correct letters of the alphabet to match the letters of our name.  We can't wait to visit the farm next week!
This week we focused on rainbows. After it rains outside the sun shines on the remaining raindrops in the sky and creates a beautiful rainbow.
We placed colored objects throughout the classroom for everyone to explore. Our table centers had several open ended rainbow projects. Some friends chose to copy the colors of an actual rainbow and others decided to create their own idea of a rainbow. We even found a rainbow shining on the ceiling!
After Hashem brought a flood to the world he placed a rainbow in the sky as a sign that he would never ever bring a flood again!
Morning meetings this week were a great time to review our class rules. The friends gave some ideas of nice ways to behave with everyone and good ways to listen. We also began a buddy system. Our buddy's welcome each other into the classroom, help them find things to play with, and make sure the buddy is feeling happy!
Shabbat Shalom!

Morah Chevy and Mushka

Reminder:
Please do not send your child to school with any toys (they tend to get lost throughout the day and makes other kids feel jealous). We will have a special day, Tuesday, reserved for show and tell where the children can choose one toy from home to bring to school, and show their friends. I will send home a reminder weekly. Thanks for understanding! :)

Update from Our Class

Another fantastic week in Nursery Bet!
Today we got a chance to make challah dough, shape the dough, and bake it!
It was so exciting to bring the challah home fresh for Shabbat!
Thank you to our Shabbat Ima Oriya and  Shabbat Abba Eli- the snacks were delicious!

Song of the week:
Noah was a Good Man
Noah was a good man, a good man, a good man,
Noah was a good man in his days.
The people were so wicked, wicked, wicked,
the people were so wicked I'm sorry to say.

Hashem said build a tayvah, a tayvah, a tayvah,
hashem said build a tayvah for everyone to see.
And who do you think lived there, lived there, lived there
who do you think lived there: Noah's family.

And then the rain came falling, falling, falling,
then the rain came falling for forty days and nights.

Shabbat Shalom!
love,
Morah Chevy and Mushka

All About the Farm

"Old MacDonald has a farm e-i-e-i-o"

This week we began to discuss everything to do with a farm! We learned about farm animals, the sounds they make, and their colors! We practiced the sounds together and had lots of fun! Our class made a chart of some farm animals and came up with ideas of what they gave us! We realized that we give them food, water, and a safe place to live and they help us back by giving us things we need.

We can't wait to visit a real farm!

Our class finished learning about the 6 days of creation! We love to walk up to our mural and explore the pictures we created. It also gives us a great chance to practice our numbers 1-7. Every day in art center we have been decorating another day of creation for our own project to bring home!

On day 6 of creation Hashem created people. He wanted them to live peacefully in his beautiful world. Unfortunately the people became wicked. During morning meeting we  discussed what it means to be wicked/bad . The class came up with ideas of what the people were doing that was bad (hitting, stealing, grabbing, calling mean names etc). The people had a choice to do good, but they chose to do not nice things. Noah was a good man and he chose to do the right things. Hashem told Noah to warn the people to do good, but they chose not to listen. We can't wait every day to continue the story of Noah with our special puppets!

Next update will be Friday, G-d willing (with lots of pictures:):)!

Fun in Nursery Bet

Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it out to Curriculum Night. It was so nice seeing you all and getting an opportunity to meet!

For those of you who were unable to make it I have a folder with papers in the classroom which you can take home and read over. We also did a 'Hopes and Dreams' project which I will include in the folder. On the material (for the project) you can choose one side to write your hopes and dreams for your child and decorate it. Please leave the second side (with the white sticker)  empty as we will be putting a family picture on and the childrens drawing.

It has been a great week of learning and exploring, as we continued to go through the days of creation. The children were very excited to visit the water table! They got a chance to play with the water toys and see how each one worked.

We learned about the creation of the sun, moon, and stars, and even discovered how to say the words in hebrew! The class discussed what the job of each was and designed a mural to add to our creation wall!

Shabbat Shalom!
love,
Morah Chevy and Mushka

Reminder:
Pickup begins at 2;15. Please wait in the hallway and one of the Morahs will bring your child outside and have him/her ready to go! Thanks!

Pictures from last week:)

Update From Our Week!

Dear parents,

This week we began learning about Hashem (g-d) creating the world. Our class looked around the room and searched for Hashem but couldn't find him anywhere. We realized that even though we can't see Hashem we know he is here watching over us.We sang the song 'Hashem is here hashem is there" and danced around!

On the first day of creation Hashem created light and dark. We closed our eyes and all we could see was black and when we opened our eyes there was light! We discussed different things we can do during the day and during the night. We explored with a light table in our room and discovered what objects the light can shine through. The class decorated a mural for day one of creation to hang on our classroom wall!

Morah brought a box of objects to circle time and we sorted through the living and non-living objects. We are alive because we eat, drink, and can breathe!  Now that the objects are on the sensory table we can sort it all by ourselves!

Have a wonderful Shabbat!
                                                    Love,

                                                 Morah Chevy and Morah Mushka
